General Information:

The exhibitions in the JDAG are funded by a university grant. Shipping & travel expenses are covered as well as a small honorarium, if enough funding is available.

The Exhibitor’s works will not be for sale.

Exhibitor must be located in the Continental US.

Exhibitor must travel to Tennessee Tech University to deliver an Artist Talk inside the JDAG.

Duration of Exhibition:

The Exhibitor and the University agree that the Exhibitor will not request their return before the end of the exhibition. The University shall acknowledge receipt of the artworks consigned to it, and the Exhibitor shall acknowledge receipt of all artworks returned.

Artworks exhibited at the University shall remain in its possession for the time agreed upon by both parties. Objects may be withdrawn from Exhibition only by mutual consent of the Exhibitor and the University.

Delivery/Pickup and Packing:

The Exhibitor is responsible for delivery and pickup of artwork.

All artwork must be properly protected and packed in reusable containers. Damaged cartons will be returned to Exhibitor unopened. All artwork will be unpacked and repackaged in original containers by experienced and competent University representatives.

Exhibitor will assist in the de-installation and repacking of artwork upon Exhibition conclusion and is responsible for arranging return shipping.  Any damages that occur in shipping are not the responsibility of the Derryberry Art gallery or TTU.

Hanging Procedures:

Upon arrival at the University all works will be inspected and any damages noted. All artwork should be prepared and ready to exhibit according to standard museum practices, e.g., wall pieces should be wired to hang; works on paper should be protected with glass or Plexiglas; 3-D works should have predetermined hanging or presentation systems intact with appropriate hardware. The Exhibitor must provide specific instructions for installation, and specialized or custom hanging hardware if needed.  If the Gallery staff is not satisfied regarding the stability and safety of the installation system, the artwork will not be installed.

No works can be ceiling mounted and digital equipment required for an exhibition must be supplied by the artist.

Pedestals, vitrines and an assortment of risers are available.  If there is a need for alternate presentation methods, arrangements should be made with the Gallery Coordinator prior to the delivery of artwork to the University.

The University reserves the right to use museum wax and vary from the Exhibitor’s installation instructions for purposes of creating a more secure installation.

Exhibitors may assist the Gallery staff in hanging an Exhibition when prior arrangement is made with the Gallery Director.

Care and Preservation:

The University will give artworks left in its custody the same care provided similar property of its own.  Evidence of damage to objects at the time of receipt or while in the University’s custody will be reported immediately to the Exhibitor.  No alteration, restoration, or repair to objects will be undertaken without the written authorization of the Exhibitor. The Exhibitor certifies that artworks for Exhibition are in good condition and will withstand ordinary strains of display and shipping/handling.

Insurance:

Unless otherwise instructed in writing, the University will insure artworks for this Exhibition through the State of Tennessee Division of Risk Management. Artwork is insured once the inventory list is received by the Department of Risk Management, and is insured for all risks of physical loss or damage while under the custody and care of the University. The policy referred to contains the usual exclusions of loss or damage due to such causes as gradual deterioration, moths, vermin, inherent vice, war, invasion, hostilities, insurrection, confiscation by order of any government or public authority, risks of contraband or illegal transportation and/or trade.  If the Exhibitor fails to provide an Inventory List as described above, the Exhibitor understands that no insurance coverage will be provided by the University.

If the Exhibitor chooses to maintain his/her own insurance, the University must be supplied with a certificate of insurance naming the gallery as an additional insured, or waiving subrogation against the University.  If the Exhibitor fails to supply the University with such a certificate, this Exhibition Agreement shall constitute a release of the University from any liability in connection with the work. The University cannot accept responsibility for any error or deficiency in information furnished to the Exhibitor’s insurer or for any lapses in coverage.

Publicity and Photography:

Unless the University is notified in writing to the contrary, it is understood that the artworks exhibited may be photographed and reproduced in the Gallery’s publications and for publicity purposes connected with this Exhibition and that slides of it may be made and distributed for educational use.

Return of Artworks:

Upon closing of the Exhibition, the artworks will be released to the Exhibitor.  If, after thirty days following the closing of the Exhibition, the University is unable to contact the Exhibitor and no special arrangements have been made for their return, the artworks will be placed in storage at the Exhibitor’s risk and expense, and insurance coverage by the University will be discontinued. In case of change of legal ownership during the Exhibition period, the new owner will be required to establish his/her or its legal right, title, and interest in and to such artworks by proof satisfactory to the University.  If a signed receipt is not returned within 15 days of issue, the University will consider the condition of artworks as noted to be acceptable to the new owner/receiver and no subsequent claims for damages will be filed.
